In May 1960 Daimler Motor Company was taken over by Jaguar.
The Jaguar Mark II was a four-door sports limousine that Jaguar released in 1959 as the successor to the Mark I, with 2.4 and 3.4 liter engines. The body was improved and modified in several details. Disc brakes were standard on all four wheels.
The Mark II 2.4 with a displacement of 2483 cm³ (six-cylinder inline engine) had 120 hp, the 3.4 delivered 210 hp, and the newly added 3.8 of 3781 cm³ delivered 220 hp.
The rear wheels were driven via a four-speed gearbox (optionally with overdrive or three-speed automatic transmission). The top speed was respectively 155 and 195 km/h.
Up to 1967, 25,173 2.4 liter units were produced, 21,768 right-hand drive and 3,405 left-hand drive.
The production years ran from 1959 to 1969.
